It has nothing to do with installation process whatsoever.

To reproduce, run the command

rm '/tmp/dir'; install-info '/usr/share/info/' '/tmp/dir'
info '-f' '/tmp/dir'

And the Top node is displayed empty.

I tried to debug info with gcc but I have not identified the culprit yet; I
know that the info programme builds a line list to display when it processes
node text and the resulting line list contains just the first line (containing
the node declaration), which it afterwards does not display either. And this
abnormal behaviour occurs only when the node line contains a tabulator.

As a side note, providing pre-created info-dir in spec is against the GPL
(because it is not a source file) and produces the introductory text in
English, whereas install-info produces the text in Polish as expected.
