Summary: vfat mount default for shortname=... changed ?
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.3
Version: Final
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Basesystem
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: koenig@xxxxxxxx

in 11.3 doing a plain "mount /dev/mmcblk0p1 /mnt" causes directories and files
show up in all UPPERCASE, while they have been lowercase in 11.1.

/proc/mounts shows that (now?) it's mounted with shortname=mixed

$ grep /mnt /proc/mounts
/dev/mmcblk0p1 /mnt vfat
0 0

while the "man mount" claimes that the default is "lower" (as it seemed to be
in 11.1, at least according to the bahaviour of 11.1 ...)

Defines the behaviour for creation and display of filenames
which fit into 8.3 characters. If a long name for a file exists,
it will always be preferred display. There are four modes: :

lower Force the short name to lower case upon display; store a
long name when the short name is not all upper case. This
mode is the default.

bug or new "feature" (which I just missed the docs for;) ?
