--- Comment #24 from Michal Marek 2010-09-13 20:26:02 UTC ---
The blacklisting should not be necessary with recent kernel and
module-init-tools, because we have modules.order. But I can see the problem
now:
drivers/Makefile has:
obj-$(CONFIG_FIREWIRE) += firewire/
obj-y += ieee1394/
so with CONFIG_FIREWIRE=m, modules.order will not be able to see the ordering
between these two. The following patch should fix that, I'll do a testbuild and
submit it upstream:

Subject: [PATCH] firewire: Always descend into drivers/firewire
Put the firewire/ subdir to obj-y, so that the ordering between
drivers/firewire/ and drivers/ieee1394/ is preserved in modules.order.
Without this patch, a CONFIG_FIREWIRE=m CONFIG_IEEE1394=m build would
result in drivers/ieee1394/ being preferred.
