After installing openSUSE 11.2 in one laptop, I've noticed that one step is taking too much time. # time /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.texlive [...] No pages of output. Transcript written on mllatex.log. fmtutil: /var/lib/texmf/web2c/pdftex/mllatex.fmt installed. (Note:here is where most time is wasted) real 3m18.026s user 0m8.016s sys 0m0.784s More than 3 minutes! After configuring a remote CUPS printer for this laptop, the new numbers are: real 0m9.604s user 0m8.111s sys 0m0.694s 3 minutes saved. Please don't try lpstat inside this process if there is no printer configured. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install or update any RPM packages in yast, in a system with no printer configured 2.
