Well, it seems an 8G CF card isn't big enough for this job - the build requires
4G and even with a very minimal installation (XFCE, X. compiler tools and
kernel sources) I run out of space.

I suppose I could set up an NFS share and use that, though it would go from
really slow to an absolute crawl. Is compilation on a beefier host (I have
plenty of Linux and MS machines available, including one with 11.3-MS5) viable,
if so please suggest how!
