Summary: X -config <configfile> doesn't seem to work
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.3
Version: Factory
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: X.Org
AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: markus.kossmann@xxxxxx
QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Found By: ---
Blocker: ---

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.3; Linux) KHTML/4.3.5
(like Gecko) SUSE

If you create a new xorg.conf using "X -configure" it tells you finally:
To test the server, run 'X -config /root/xorg.conf.new'
If you do that, the server crashes.
However if you move the generated config file to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and run
startx as user, the server comes up fine. Just starting X as user (with config
moved to /etc/X11) also causes the crash

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.run X -configure
2.run X -config /root/xorg.conf.new
3.
Actual Results:
Server crashes with backtrace

Expected Results:
server should come up without crash
