So, there are definite problems with ext4 and we're not sure that these changes
will fix everything?
My server stores all my data (photos, music, videos, documents etc). The only
reason I formatted my disks with ext4 when I built this new server with SuSE
11.2 was because it was the default option and I figured you guys at SuSE were
confident in the reliability of ext4 over ext3 (which is what I had been
using).
In my situation would you rely on ext4+patches ?
I'm happy(ish) to try the patches on a test machine, but I'm going to convert
my disks back to ext3 (which will be a real pain & cost me a new 1T disk since
all my disks are over 50% used).
If ext4 is this problematic, shouldn't you at least add warnings in Yast so
that people can make a more informed choice before committing to it?
