Building against an older kernel release is no issue as long as the kABI doesn't change, which didn't for 11.2 until now - as far as I know.
Wrong checksum is a completely different issue - already known and apparently still not addressed. Probably it would be the best to remove the ATI repos again from our communitiy repos for openSUSE.
Hmmmm..... Mr. Dirsch, will you be so kind and recommend me some user friendly and FUNCTIONAL driver for ATI graphic card in oS 11.2? In the concrete: laptop Lenovo R500 with ATI Radeon Mobility 3400 series. I have tried open drivers (radeon, radeonhd) - installation is default and without problem, but: 2D movies in various players are snatchy (everywhere), 3D power (checked in glxgears) is quite unusable. I also have tried installation from proprietary *.run file (downloaded directly from ATI) - I was not succesfull, installation has always end with unspecified bug. By the way - the necessity of new driver installation after any kernel upgrade is maybe only nightmare, isn't it so? The third way - installation of precompiled driver from ATI repository mentioned above - is impossible because of its bug... Finally, I was forced to install Linux Mint, where all three drivers (radeon/radeonhd/fglrx) are in repository and their function is perfect. But it is not solution for me, I would like to use openSUSE as on my other PCs...
