Using the SUSE-specific /usr/sbin/grubonce works. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. "default 0" is set in /boot/grub/menu.lst 2. /usr/sbin/grub-set-default 1 3. Check "1" was written to /boot/grub/default 4. Reboot Actual Results: Entry 0, the original default, is selected on the next boot.
