I leave it up to you what you do with my analysis and suggested solution. As a
final note, look at /etc/X11/xdm/Xsession line 107ff

It agrees that the log file is for errors. So maybe it is up to you to bother
openFATE or whatever to discuss how and where to log debug-level information.

Don't get me wrong, such diagnostic info is needed and very useful if things go
wrong. Its just pointless to spam log file unconditionally with it and offer no
simple way to turn them off.
