How am I (or some hardware vendor trying to build a DUD)
supposed to find this?

Ok, there may be some confusion, if a DUD doesn't work with
a sold copy of your DVD but works with a DVD created from
a FTP mirror - but at the moment it won't work with either
one (because noone really knows about the workaround you
just prepared).

So the only way to make DUD's work this way, is to contact
all hardware vendors and make them apply your patch (which
won't happen - at least for a very long time). Or you can
leave this to the customer himself (this will cause you even
more trouble).

Sorry but I'm having a hard time to believe this is going
to work.

Fixing the problem at its source instead of working around
it always worked best for me - but of course this is not
my decision to make.
