I made modifications in /etc/X11/xdm/GiveDevices

if test -p /dev/xconsole ; then
# DEBUG
echo "573669-permissions: "`id -u`
chown ${USER}:tty /dev/xconsole
chmod 400 /dev/xconsole
fi

but I don't get anything logged (grepped all files under /var/log).

In /etc/init.d/syslog I added a:

if ! test -e /dev/xconsole ; then
mknod -m 0600 /dev/xconsole p
chown root:tty /dev/xconsole
else
# DEBUG
touch /dev/xconsole_already_existed
fi

and after rebooting that file is there. I also grepped my whole /etc but can't
find what else could create this. /dev is handled by udev as it should and
there are no weired udev rules.
mount | grep "/dev "
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw)
