http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=578584 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=578584#c0 Summary: yast inconsistent with MD raid - fails to fix bootloader Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: daved@windclimber.id.au QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091206 SeaMonkey/2.0.1 A kernel upgrade on a system with an MD raid root filesystem left the system unbootable due to no initrd being created for the new kernel. Trying to use the "Repair Installed System" option from the 11.2 distribution DVD, even on an intact system discloses some problems. When doing the search for mountable partitions, all the MD raid partitions are correctly listed, but then on the "Checking fstab entries" step, all the /dev/md* entries are listed al "invalid or obsolete". Then things fail completely with "Error - changing environment to target system was not successful", Then yast reports "Boot loader errors detected. The following files cannot be found:" but none are listed! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Boot 11.2 distribution DVD on system with MD raid root filesystem 2.select "Repair Installed System" then "Customized repair" 3.deselect all but "check boot loader configuration" Actual Results: Reports boot loader errors, even on intact system, cannot change environment to target system, and claims files are missing but does not list them. Expected Results: Offer to rebuild bootloader files including initrd -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
