http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=573345 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=573345#c0 Summary: Task Scheduler does not end script on 'rm' command (intermittent) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: frankebay99@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 SUSE/3.5.6-1.1.1 Firefox/3.5.6 When Task Scheduler runs a 2-line script which has a 'sudo rm' as the last line, it sometimes does not end the script. The 'rm' command keeps writing on disk over and over and uses 25% of cpu (1 full cpu, I have a QUAD). I need to kill the command, but it requires many kills until it finally stops and when it does, the removal of file completes. Running the script either by the scheduler or by RUN NOW button does the same behavior. Script is: #!/bin/bash cd / sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/0bits bs=20M sudo rm /0bits exit Yes, this fills up the ROOT partition until no space left on disk. It is the only way I found to clean the drive so that when I perform an image of the partition the file remains as small as possible. This scripts (named cleandrive.sh) works perfectly 100% of the time for over 2 years when run as 'sh cleandrive.sh' from konsole. Some might also say './cleandrive.sh' When run from Task Scheduler, it loops on the 'rm' command once in a while. Which then causes problems due to missing disk space (plasma crashes after a while). Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Add a schedule for the above script in Task Scheduler 2.Let the schedule run the script or click on RUN NOW 3. Actual Results: Loops on 'rm' command, writes constantly on disk during the command, takes 1 full cpu resource, crashes plasma after a while (obvious since no space left on root partition). Expected Results: Should do like in konsole: proceed with removal of '/0Bits' file and delete it within 2-3 sec. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
