Whether to start gpsd or not is more complex than it looks like. We cannot just run it on udev plugin events by default, because most GPS devices have a generic usbserial chip included, which makes them indistinguishable from other devices using these chips (see bug #432420). The u-blox device, however, has its own distinct USB id. It probably makes sense to start gpsd in this case. However, we definitely want to have a way to disable gpsd autostart here as well. I've adjusted the udev script to honor a third option to GPSD_STARTBYUDEV and made it the default (for new installations of the package): if you set it to "realgpsonly", it will start gpsd on hotplug for devices we can safely identify as GPS receivers, but not for generic usbserial devices. Daniel, can you give the package at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/jreuter:/branches:/Applicati... a try and report whether it works for you? (Move /etc/sysconfig/gpsd away before installing the package to get the new default for GPSD_STARTBYUDEV. Also, the version for FACTORY doesn't build currently.) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
