I really don't know. The thing is that that part of kernel remained about the
same between 11.1 and 11.2 and more than half of this type of problems
eventually turned out to be power problem, so that is my first hunch but I of
course could be wrong.

I will test out the system with a new power-supply as soon as possible and let
you know.

You won't be using NCQ but for desktop usage the difference isn't noticeable.
You're not noticing any difference, right?

No, I have not noticed any difference yet. I have noticed some slowing down of
number-crunching using Mathematica but that might not be related to the present
issue at all. For the present, i.e. until a new power-supply solves the issue
completely, I will continue to use libata.force=noncq then.

Thanks for all your help in this regard.
