I'm no longer at the cafe, however when I got back I killed nm-applet and
started knetworkmanager. At this point knetworkmanager seems to be behaving
better. Without going back, I can't confirm if I'll see a "blank" network.
I checked out the directory
/home/jnelson/.kde4/share/apps/networkmanagement/connections/ and it's got
entries in it that don't correspond to anything in the knetworkmanager "Manage
Connections" interface. In fact, I went and deleted everything using that
interface, and I still have 3 files in connections/ - one is my auto wired
connection (this is expected), and two are wireless connections. The first
wireless connection is the cafe I was just at (but for which knetworkmanager
seemed unable to "see") and the other is a network I haven't been at in months.
Neither of the wireless connection files show up in the knetworkmanager
"Manage Connections" interface.
