I tried to install SuSE 11.2 / 32 bit in VMware Workstation 7 as well as
VirtualBox (2.0.2). After selecting the language (german), the video size
(1024x728) and the architecture (x86, only VMware). The system hangs showing
the attached screenshot. Installation stops.
A host system I used: SuSE 11.0 32bit (Intel) as well as SuSE 11.0 64 bit (AMD)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start VMware / Virtual Box
2.create new machine
3.insert installation DVD and boot virtual machine
4. under VMware select x86 architecture, for Virtual Box no specific
architecture must be selected
5 press return to start installation
Actual Results:
An error message is shown (see screenshot attached), Installation does not
proceed.
Expected Results:
Install SuSE 11.2 :-)
Installing SuSE 11.2/64 bit under VMware workstation is done without that
problem.
A workaround (thanks to open-slx.com) is: After pressing 3 times RETURN a
console window occurs, allowing to select the installation method. After
entering "linux" the installation system boots and SuSE 11.2/32 bit is
installed without any further complains.
