http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=553607 Summary: some (a lot of?) kernel modules are missing, issues with built-in soundcards Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: RC 2 Platform: PC OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dmitry.serpokryl@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091102 Firefox/3.5.5 Example: kernel config (in /boot/config* or zcat /proc/config.gz) reports that i do should have a CONFIG_SND_VIA82XX=m and CONFIG_SND_VIA82XX_MODEM=m but there're no sign of them in the base distribution. moreover, when i rebuild the "missing"/required src.rpm: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/multimedia:/audio:/KMP/openSUSE_Fa... for a current kernel the "alsaconf" failed to detect my soundcard: alsa.card_id = 'VIA 8237 with ALC850' o'k, inserted the required module manually - still no sound (even after reboot with explicit declaration to load the required module) the solution was simple - installation of the OSS: http://www.4front-tech.com/download.cgi my current 11.1 is running with the vanilla 2.6.30.6 (local build) and version of "alsa" installed from: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/multimedia:/audio:/snapshot/openSU... is the same as for 11.2. all is fine, i can see the "missing" "VIA DXS" controls and no issues with sound. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install oS-11.2 2. rebuild http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/multimedia:/audio:/KMP/openSUSE_Fa... 3. load required "snd" module Actual Results: no sound, alsaconf doesn't see the card Expected Results: at least i should have a buzz... OpenBSD-4.6/current works flawlessly. oS-11.1 with vanilla kernel (local build) also works nice. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
