My pc is netbook MSI Wind U100. The plugging any USB device in causes neither an output in dmesg nor any change in lsusb. Such a behavior can be solved by blacklisting uvcvideo module. However, this module is needed for the webcam (BisonCam, NB Pro (5986:0203)). This bug seems to be also known in the ubuntu community. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/435352 uname -a Linux msiwind 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2009-10-26 15:49:03 +0100 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux lsusb Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 002: ID 5986:0203 Acer, Inc Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. just install OpenSuse 11.2 RC1 i586 from dvd with default options on MSI wind u100 2. after the first boot USB doesn't work 3. Actual Results: Neither usb mouse nor usb mass storage devices are not identified. This is reported by lsusb and dmesg During boot kernel reports several "cannot reset port 6 (err = -108)" errors. However, if the device is plugged before boot it is recognized and works properly. Blacklisting of uvcvideo modile in /etc/modprobe.d/50-blacklist.conf returns the system to the normal behavior. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
