While the hack doesn't seem to hurt when no bridge is configured, it doesn't
help (here) if one is specified either.
Not sure what happens, if ifup-wireless sets up a bridge and the next thing is
the "real" set up of the bridge configured.
For instance #service network restart causes:
Shutting down network interfaces:
br0
br0 done
eth0 device: Intel Corporation PRO/100 VE Network Connection (rev 02)
eth0 done
eth1 device: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express
Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 02)
eth1 done
wlan0 device: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network
Connection (rev 02)
wlan0 done
Shutting down service network . . . . . . . . . done
Hint: you may set mandatory devices in /etc/sysconfig/network/config
Setting up network interfaces:
eth0 device: Intel Corporation PRO/100 VE Network Connection (rev 02)
eth0 is controlled by ifplugd
eth0 waiting
eth1 device: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express
Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 02)
eth1 is controlled by ifplugd
eth1 waiting
wlan0 device: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network
Connection (rev 02)
wlan0 starting wpa_supplicant
***** after having set up the bridge by means of the hack *****
wlan0 IP address: 0.0.0.0/32
wlan0 done
***** starting the "proper" bridge setup *****
br0
br0 Ports: [eth0] [eth1] [wlan0]
br0 forwarddelay (see man ifcfg-bridge) ... ready
br0 Starting DHCP4+DHCP6 client. . . . . . . .
br0 DHCP4 continues in background
br0 DHCP6 continues in background
br0 waiting
modem0 name: Modem
modem0 Startmode is 'manual'
modem0 skipped
Setting up service network . . . . . . . . . . done
Leaving the wlan connection in a cycle of associated, disconnect, scan and so
forth.
still only killing wpa_supplicant and restarting it manually with
wpa_supplicant -B -bbr0 -Dwext -iwlan0
-c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
gets it to complete.
Maybe it would be easier to skip start_wpa_supplicant() if found that wlan
belongs to a bridge, and add that function to ifup-bridge, executing when wlan
is registered bridge port ?
