--- Comment #14 from Sven Burmeister
and in comment #9 ---------------------------------------------------------------- It is exactly what a normal user expects regarding default out-of-the-box device access permissions: When he has a device on his desktop (USB devices are usually located next to the computer) he expects to have access permissions for the whole device by default. A user would not understand if he would be only allowed to print but not allowed to get the printer device status ----------------------------------------------------------------
My hp-toolbox cannot communicate with my printer and getfacl prints: getfacl /dev/bus/usb/001/004 getfacl: Entferne führende '/' von absoluten Pfadnamen # file: dev/bus/usb/001/004 # owner: root # group: root user::rw- group::rw- other::r-- So the above comment explains quite well the issue, I do not understand why I cannot get the status of my printer. If it would work, there would be no issue. I tried this on another computer which never saw any packman repo but just 11.2 zypper dups, same issue, the local, i.e. logged in user is not the owner of the usb device, i.e. printer. On the other computer it is group lp, but the owner is still root. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
