http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=546315 Summary: Sound device is not accessible in runlevel 3 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 8 Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: bgmerrell@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- PROBLEM STATEMENT ConsoleKit (via ck-list-sessions) shows that the session is not active (active = FALSE) when booting into runlevel 3 and then starting a window manager. This causes the sound to be inaccessible to Pulse Audio. REPRO 1. Edit /etc/inittab to boot into runlevel 3 (id:3:initdefault: instead of id:5:initdefault:) 2. Reboot 3. Log in and run 'startx' 4. Run ck-list-sessions RESULTS You will not hear a login sound or other desktop sounds. I talked to Scott Reeves, who works on Pulse Audio, and he said that it appears that pulse audio cannot access the device because the ConsoleKit session is not active. That is, ck-list-sessions shows "active = FALSE". EXPECTED RESULTS I would expect sound to work when running a window manager from runlevel 3. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
