I have seen #533320, and I understand the view expressed therein. However, I
think it is important that inactive menu items be visually distinguishable from
active ones, and one should not have to hover the mouse or use the keyboard to
understand if an item in the menu is inactive. Esp. with applications like gimp
where there are many items in one menu, it is painful with the present
configuration to distinguish between active and inactive items. Why is
important to read inactive items? And if it indeed so important, why do we see
conflicting positions between this bug and #526004#c24.
I agree with the position of #526004#c24 totally, and therefore my strong
feeling is that it is better to have slightly hard to read inactive items than
having them look similar to the active ones. Not that they were so hard to read
with the pre-M8 configuration too.
Please look at the attachment again and see if you don't have a problem
distinguishing the active and inactive items. The contrast is just not there.
