http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=535065 Summary: misconfigured grub trying to boot from wrong disk Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 6 Platform: All OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: estellnb@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090730 SUSE/3.5.2-2.4 Firefox/3.5.2 If I install on (hd1,6) OpenSuse 11.2 makes a wrong menu.lst-entry letting the root and initrd point to (hd0,6) instead of (hd1,6). However this is not an error of device.map. All other OS have the right disk selected. 'device.map' has not changed from Opensuse 11.1 on and in OS-11.1 things have been working well. In addition to the wrong root&initrd reference menu.lst is also being searched for on (hd0,6) instead of (hd1,6) in spite of /etc/grub.conf not having changed at all so that I would suppose that this is not only a configuration problem of Grub but perhaps a bug having been newly introduced into grub. There also seems to be a problem in using kernel 2.6.31rc7 with OS-11.1. The graphical boot menu has fallen back to text mode since I installed rc7 there.
