11.2 x86 m6 - direct vga dsub15 connected once and sax2 succeeded partially
logs /var/log and /etc/x11
from a direct vga dsub15 connection between flatpanel monitor and mainboard,
without the kvm avocent switch in between.
was partially successful but sax2 was only outputting the screen at 1280x1024
60hy and dislocated towards the left border of the screen.
also note: when i sax2-vesa with the flatpanel connected to the avocent kvm
switch the sax2-vesa brings up the exact same 1280x1024 60hz resolution (always
tested with flatpanels onscreen information display dialog) but with sax2-vesa
the resolution exactly fits the screen, no dislocation, exactly centered and
everyrthing is fine for 1280x1024.
when sax2 (without vesa) and direct monitor to mainboard vga dsub15 connection
the screen was out of boundaries and cut on the left and i couldnt move it at
all with the sax2 arrow buttons.
so there is some difference how the radeonhd driver talks to the flatpanel and
how the vesa2 driver talks to the flatpanel. there has to be some bug in the
way it accesses the monitor or sets the resolution and all that sort of things.
windows never had any problems. on this very same physical system a windows7 a
windowsvista and windowsxp has been running and tested the past several days.
no problem of screen resolution ever occured and everything was connected
through the avocent kvm switch, the very same cabling, the very same location,
no other cables, powerchors, nor other hardware no changes.
this problem has to be caused by the radeonhd driver and its related modules.
