Summary: Turn auto-hiding of notifications off by default in
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.2
Version: Milestone 5
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: KDE4 Workspace
AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@xxxxxxx

In KDE 4.3 all running jobs and notifications hide after a small delay. It is
not good that running jobs pop-up auto-hide, since it might lead to the
mistaken feeling of the job having been completed. Auto-hiding of notifications
also should be a per-application setting, i.e. an application that is causing
the pop-up should also cause it to auto-hide if necessary. Keeping these points
in view I suggest that in KDE4, 11.2 auto-hiding of notifications and job
pop-ups be turned off by default.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Copy large-ish file.
2.Pop-up appears in right hand bottom corner.
3.Pop-up is auto-hidden after a few seconds though job is running, leaving a
not so prominent marker on the system-tray.
4.Click on the system-tray notification marker, and the pop-up re-appears.
5.Right click on system-tray and turn off the auto-hide feature. Notifications
from kmail, etc. still hide automatically, but jobs and notifications not
configured to auto-hide stay up as they should.
