Sorry this *will* be closed within sm_io_close() around line 597.
It's a bit tricky but at least the close(2) in sm_bfclose() in
file sendmail-8.14.3/sendmail/bf.c will be called. Otherwise
sendmail would run out of file descriptors on any larger mail
server.
