After checking with the opensource radeon developers, it seems that we have
here a mismatch between new kernel functionality (KMS) and an incompatible
libdrm + radeon xorg driver.

There are two solutions possible:

1) openSUSE 11.2 will start utilizing KMS, which means that we have to move to
a special libdrm, radeon driver etc. The details are described here :

2) The KMS functionality is disabled. Either by disabling the functionality in
the kernel configuration or to use boot parameters. If the option
radeon.modeset=0 is added to the boot parameters. In this option the driver can
stay at it is and is fully functional.
