A gentleman named Pedro, posting in Bug 502557, seems to confirm the concerns
that this was not just a Dell issue in that he confirmed that this bug occurs
on his Sony Vaio (Model VGN-SZ5XN) running OpenSuSE 11.1 X86_64 with 4GB of RAM
with PCMCIA based U740 Merlin 3.5G data card.

More importantly, he stated that "I tried with kernel 2.6.31-rc3 from
kernel.org and it works perfectly."

Can you please try version 2.6.31 of the kernel and confirm that this does
indeed solve the problem we are experiencing?
