http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=517389 Summary: HAL does not mount removables Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Hotplug AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: henk.vanvelden@xs4all.nl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/3.5; Linux) KHTML/3.5.10 (like Gecko) SUSE Inserting a removable (CD, DVD, USB stick) lets pop-up the window with "what do you want to do with it". Choosing "open in a window" opens a Konqueror window (nothing in it) and an error window with the text: hal-storage-mount-removable no <-- (action, result) Not a very illuminating error message (like old and dark Unix days ) The device is not mounted. Mounting from the CLI (as root) works fine. Ths seems to happen since last security updataes. I found a description for patch-hal-6098 and 6085: The dbus package used a too permissive configuration. Therefore intended access control for some services was not applied (CVE-2008-4311). The new configuration denies access by default. Some dbus services may break due to this setting and need an updated configuration as well. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.insert CD/DVD/USBstick 2.wait for pop-up window 3.choose: open in en new window Actual Results: Konqui opens window with nothing in it and an error window with: hal-storage-mount-removable no <-- (action, result), only OK button. Device is not mounted. Mount (as root) from the CLI is possible. Same happens when tried from MyComputer. Expected Results: Konqui sshould have the contents of the device in its window.
