http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=514235 Summary: After Hibernate, laptop cannot boot... at all Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: onemic80@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042316 Firefox/3.0.10 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) What I did was, I put my laptop in hibernate (used slab and clicked the shutdown icon, then clicked hibernate). My laptop went into hibernation. Then when I wanted to boot up, I only showed a blinking cursor on the top left corner of my screen. I can't get into the OS, grub didn't even show up. I just installed the OS (openSuSE 11.1), I haven't configured anything. My laptop specs are: Lenovo 3000 G430 20008 Intel Dual-Core 2GHz RAM 1.5GB HDD 160 Intel Graphics 4500 I tried booting again using the openSuSE DVD (the same one I used to install my OS) in an attempt to look at the partitions, but nothing happened. The DVD would spin but that's all. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install openSuSE 11.1 2.Go into Hibernate (click shutdown icon on slab, then click Hibernate) 3.Turn on laptop Actual Results: Blank screen with a blinking cursor on the top left corner. Can't get anywhere else. Expected Results: Go into the OS. I tried booting again using the openSuSE DVD (the same one I used to install my OS) in an attempt to look at the partitions, but nothing happened. The DVD would spin but that's all. My laptop has Windows XP installed on it too. Normally grub detects both. And normally things worked fine. Until the day I decided to try out the Hibernate feature. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
