KDE 3.5, all patches uptodate, official KDE version from DVD media.

Backup media: SATA hard disk, connected with mobile rack to mobo SATA
interface. Apart from being physically easy to remove, the disk would be
indistinguishable from an internal hard disk. I expect disks connected via
eSATA and a connector on bracket at the back will have the same problem. I'm
not interested in USB disks any more because of their lack of speed.

Using cryptsetup luksFormat, luksOpen to set up the removable storage media. It
works fine with a test USB stick and the SATA disk. The USB stick is also
automounted by whatever mechanism pops up the window that asks for the
password. However the decryption setup fails with the SATA disk, see attached
error window screenshot.
