Johannes,
So nice to work with you again-
Please clarify the log(s) you want by just re-setting needinfo
Do you want *only* the "current y2log" - Its about 8MB
OR
Do you want *all y2logs* in an archive
RE comment #1
Yes I understand Hardware Detection at the end of Installation only looks for a
CUPS Server/Queue.
If it find NO CUPS then the assumption is there are no printers.
Under the following conditions there are NO CPUS Servers, so hardware detection
cannot find a Printer in any examples below
1. If I had 1 PC and 1 Printer Attached(NO LAN) - CUPS is *not* involved.The
Print Driver supplies all the required info(PCL/Postscript)
2. If I have many PC's and the Printer has an IP for every other PC's to use,
CUPS is also *not* involved as all Print Jobs are sent directly to the Printers
IP.
3. CPUS Should only be involved when a printer is attached to a PC and that PC
is running Print Servers that everyone can use via their PC. In this instance
CUPS is involved
4. In the case where a LAN can print directly to a Printers IP address there is
NO logic in sharing the device as every PC on the LAN can connect directly to
the LAN Printers IP.
5. The 'Local Filtering' is very unclear in all text information. In cases 1,4
above the only use for local filtering is to allow/deny users access and its
even muddier in 1 above.
If a Single PC has a Physical Printer Attached, NO LAN, why is there a need for
local filtering or sharing the connection - The PC in question is not part of a
LAN. The Print Driver has been established and the printer requires no further
information. (PCL/Postscript)
If a Network Printer has its own IP and PC's can all print to that IP, there is
nothing to be gained by sharing this connection, nor performing local filtering
as ever PC that initiated a Print has the print driver defined (I.E PCL6) etc.
