http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=496727 Summary: Network Manager Applet will Not Reload on Subsequent PC Re-Boots Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: alpha096@virginbroadband.com.au QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032600 SUSE/3.0.8-1.1.1 Firefox/3.0.8 After Installation change Network Device from IFUP to Network Manager. Initiate Network Manger Applet from Systems Menu. Configure Network Manager and save After re-boot the Network Manager Applet is not auto-loaded and user has to manually execute it. It is believed most all other Applets that are executed in any particular session will not be retrained after the PC is re-booted. System testing should be performed for ALL system Applets to discover which applets will not auto load after a session has established one. Network Manager is the classic. Tester unable to discover what logic is present in maintaining applets as this appears hit and miss on PC re-boot Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Perform a standard Gnome Install 2.After completion change Yast>Network Devices>Network Settings from IFUP to Network Manager. 3. Configure Network Manager and save and connect 4. Re-boot PC. 5. Note Network Manager Applet is not auto-loaded. 6. This is NOT limited to the Network Manager and all other applets should be tested to see if they initiate after reboot of PC Actual Results: It is unclear which applets executed during a session will be retained after PC re-boot. There seems no login in which will and which wont. Further testing is required on behalf of programmer. Network Manager is offered as the prime example of an unworkable installation as there does not appear to be any service managing the Network as desired in the Network Managers settings. Expected Results: ALL Applets should reload after execution in any session. The action of closing an Applet and indicating the applet should not load in further sessions should be the only reason why an Applet should not load during PC re-boot -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
