But the fun part is that that field doesn't account for file vs. anonymous mlocks. Perhaps we should spell that one out. No, that comment isn't wrong, it says that slabs that set the flag *claim* to be reclaimable. That doesn't mean they're 100% reclaimable all the time, just like ramfs and the root dentry. It just means that we expect to be able to shrink them, not that we can *always* shrink them or that their contents are 100% disposable. You're not addressing my main point, though, which is that this removes the ability to do apples-to-apples comparisons with vmstat across different distributions. I agree with you that vmstat needs some work, and I'd be happy to work with you to find some ways to improve it.
