http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=491535 Summary: Repository Kernel:/SL111_BRANCH: you cannot update to new kernel 2.6.27.21-10.1, unexisting dependency Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: carlo.strata@tiscali.it QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=283708) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=283708) Gnome Yast2 package manager error message (italian one, but useful) User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; it; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032600 SUSE/3.0.8-1.1 Firefox/3.0.8 Hi Everyone, you cannot update to new kernel 2.6.27.21-10.1 because nothing provide module-init-tools_fix_bnc_480524 using Repository Kernel:/SL111_BRANCH (like in Bug 487086); you cannot update your kernel starting from build 2.6.27.21-9.1 (until 2.6.27.21-8.1 all went fine). I also suggest you not to make command line zypper able to update kernel-source package if it cannot also update the corresponding (!) binary ones (e.g. kernel-default-base, kernel-default, kernel-default-extra). I cannot find the needed package with Webpin (http://packages.opensuse-community.org/). Carlo p.s.1. It is also very irritating to clean /boot/grub/menu.lst from multiple pairs of normal/safe boot entry each time you update the kernel three above kernel packages. p.s.2. Where I can set the system to keep at least two different booting kernels?!!! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add repository http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/SL111_BRANCH/openSUSE_11.1... 2. update kernel with "yast2 --install" (I use the Gnome version) 3. Actual Results: You get the attached error message. Expected Results: Update the kernel. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
