Thanks Lukas for your reply, but I think you need to say a couple more words... According to YaST I have the latest version of the updater applet installed on my systems...

kde4-opensuse-updater 0.7.17-6.2-x86_64

Could you please use kde4-opensuse-updater's successor called kupdateapplet?
