As a result, vmware-user does not autostart. xsession.errors shows the following error: gnome-session[5018]: WARNING: Could not parse desktop file /etc/xdg/autostart/vmware-user.des ktop: Key file does not have key 'Type' gnome-session[5018]: WARNING: could not read /etc/xdg/autostart/vmware-user.desktop Running desktop-file-validate shows the following error: rupert@linux:~> desktop-file-validate /etc/xdg/autostart/vmware-user.desktop /etc/xdg/autostart/vmware-user.desktop: warning: key "Encoding" in group "Desktop Entry" is deprecated /etc/xdg/autostart/vmware-user.desktop: error: required key "Type" in group Desktop Entry" is not present This error is affecting the mono vmware image since we use open-vm-tools in our Mono VMWare image. We are using susestudio to build the vmware image and we base the image off of 11.1.
