Frankly I think this is fine for the technical person, but is not in the
mindset of the end users. If we think about them, then we have "Win Refugees",
"Hobby Linux ppl", and "Experienced Linux".
If we step back, they are doing things like :
Trying Linux out, installing on a Windows Only machine
Trying to upgrade a previous installation
Trying to install fresh, keeping some data
I saw in Fate some discussion of recommended lay outs
https://features.opensuse.org/305716
https://features.opensuse.org/305634 - may make it good to have backup of
system partitons, to safely do "zypper dup"
Basically the "Win Refugee" wants :
- Shrink of Windows partition, and openSUSE to install itself sensibly to a
recommended lay out, which should permit safe upgrade in future
- Replacement of Linux distro (may be some windows version) Recycling space
They probably don't want details, just know & give permission to use certain
areas.
The "Hobby Linuxer" has existing data, but wants a sane well thought out lay
out, without 'details'
The "Expert Linuxer" knows what they want, and really needs the Disk
Partitioner Tool, with minimum preamble.
Firing the installer up now, after Desktop Selection, I get to "Disk"
It has cryptic partitioning suggestion, with radio selector "Partition Based"
"LVM Based"
Then big buttons underneath "Create Partition Setup" and "Edit Partition
Setup", which actually don't mean what you would first think.
Right now I dont' see any class of user, who this really works for. The
approach needs thinking through, and then see what comprimises are needed to
make feasible implementation in reasonable time.
