In the intel bug, I was asked to add this to the Device section of xorg.conf:
Option "ForceSDVODetect" "yes"
This did enable xrandr to see both monitors. I'm also able to use xrandr
for screen positioning and it seems to work fine.
I've been unable to craft a xorg.conf that works automatically. Using
simply my opensuse10.3 one doesn't work and my attempts at crafting a more
opensuse11.1 style xorg.conf have failed. I get lots of position style
error messages in the xorg logs
Cannot position output TMDS-1 relative to output Monitor[1] without modes
Still, this specific bug seems resolved and I can use commands like this for
now:
xrandr --output TMDS-1 --left-of TMDS-2
and it works perfectly. That's good enough for me for now.
I'd like to report a bug on the xorg.conf troubles I'm having. I think there
is some sort of driver or related bug here. However, I feel it's risky.
So my plan is to wait until there is a version of sax2 I can run that works
in this scenario, then only report a bug if the resulting config file doesn't
work for this machine. That way we know exactly what we're getting in terms
of the xorg.conf in play. I'd be happy to try some stuff in this area if
asked. xorg.conf files are complicated enough as it is without trying to
debug my own hand-crafted errors :)
Thanks
-Erik
