I did a complete reboot to be safe.

user@host$ hal-find-by-capability --capability scanner

user@host$ lshal -u
udi =
info.capabilities = {'scsi_generic', 'scanner'} (string list)
info.category = 'scsi_generic' (string)
info.parent =
info.product = 'SCSI Generic Interface' (string)
info.subsystem = 'scsi_generic' (string)
info.udi =
linux.device_file = '/dev/sg6' (string)
linux.hotplug_type = 2 (0x2) (int)
linux.subsystem = 'scsi_generic' (string)
linux.sysfs_path =
scsi_generic.device = '/dev/sg6' (string)

Nevertheless when I log in as normal user via KDM/XDM
"scanimage -L" does not show it but as root it does show it.

user@host$ ls -l /dev/sg6
crw-rw---- 1 root root 21, 6 2009-01-27 14:22 /dev/sg6

After a "chmod a+rw /dev/sg6" it works also for a normal user.

Because attachment #267956 looks as described in comment #44
and is in the right directory according to comment #48
it looks like an issue in HAL (or elsewhere but not in YaST).
