https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=467740 Summary: HAL should display warning if non-bad Seagate Drives are detected Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: RC 2 Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Greg.Freemyer@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-1.1 Firefox/3.0.5 With the recent acknowlegement by Seagate that certain Model drives are known to suffer permanent lockups, HAL should be configured to identify these drives and warn the user. I believe that adding the info to the neccesary .fdi files may do the trick. You can find the affected model numbers at the end of: http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=207931 I'm not sure where to find the affected firmware releases.
