This issue still exists. I do not see it as particularly bad, though, because
apart from the potentially severe performance impact, everything works as
expected. Certainly not bad enough to take it off the distribution.
I do have several ideas on how to reduce the impact of this problem (upper size
boundaries for files to be compressed, explicit blacklists, heuristics
preventing repeated compression/decompression cycles...), but this belongs to
