https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=465797 Summary: pm-utils: S-ATA Link power management script doesn't change alpm-status Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: RC 2 Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Mobile Devices AssignedTo: zoz@novell.com ReportedBy: user2304@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.63 (X11; Linux i686; U; de) Presto/2.1.1 Hi there according to lessWatts.org it's possible to use sata link powermanagement to reduce power consumption on intel chipset-based laptops. In opensuse 11.1 there's a script "/usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/sata-pm" for using this function. By applying "pm-powersave true" in commandline, all scripts in /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/ should be executed. Unfortunately, there's neither a change of the output of "cat /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/link_power_management_policy" from max_performance to medium_power or min_power nor a commandline feedback after applying the command. That means, that there's no change when changing profile with kpowersave, too. It's possible to apply min_power to "/sys/class/scsi_host/host0/link_power_management_policy" manually. I suppose, there's something wrong in this script, but the content of this script appears cryptographic to me. Regards, user2304 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. cat /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/link_power_management_policy > max_performance 2. pm-powersave true 3. cat /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/link_power_management_policy > max_performance :( 3. pm-powersave false 4. cat /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/link_power_management_policy > max_performance Expected Results: "cat /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/link_power_management_policy" should output min_power -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
