Wait, wait.

When I type 40.00 I get 39.99, when I type 40.01 I get 40.00. So correct me if
I am wrong, but current "algorithm" looks like this

1) user input
2) numeric value
3) textual value

Raw conversion, nothing else. The correct algorithm:

1) user input
2) find numeric value, which in backward conversion give the same textual
value; if not possible --> round it
3) textual value

And as in this example it is perfectly doable, I don't see anything invalid in
this report (after all you said it is already on your TODO list), so reopening.

it's not possible to match nice numbers like 40 GB.

It is already done, user has to enter value 40.01 GB.
