FWIW, when I was able to reproduce the bug (a few weeks ago), launching in
nautilus just made it work. (yay!)
So. Looking at the code and at the ldd output, I don't think nautilus links to
hal. Which makes me think it could be because of a nautilus extension.
The following extensions are linking to libhal:
libgnome-mount.so
libnautilus-brasero-extension.so
libnautilus-burn-extension.so
libtotem-properties-page.so
Aaron: since you're the guinea pig here (sorry about that, I can't reproduce
:-)), can you try moving away each of this extension to see which is causing
troubles? They are living in /usr/lib/nautilus/extensions-2.0/ (or lib64).
