Thank you for enlighting the situation. Now it's clear.

But couldn't network-remotefs' description just say it starts NM? This would
help everyone understand why they may have no network connection with "network
service turned on".

Well, it could... Fixed in svn trunk.

BTW: Network-remotefs is just a wrapper calling "network $1 -o boot remotefs".
