https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=462248 Summary: Can't execute binaries from USB key in KDE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Translations AssignedTo: ke@novell.com ReportedBy: mar.pollo@gmail.com QAContact: ke@novell.com Found By: --- When you plug a USB key, a little window pops up. If you choose to open the device's root folder, konqueror will open that folder in the system:/ kioslave. If you click an executable file in that window, the "Open file with" dialog will appear (instead of the file being executed). If, instead, you browse to /media/<usb_key_name> (without "system:") and click the file, it will be executed. This can be fixed in two ways: 1) Don't use the system:/ kioslave anymore. I think that who chose to use it had considered this question, so I wouldn't suggest this option. This change would also have to be made in the K menu. 2) Patch the system:/ kioslave to run files. If this is possible, it would be the best solution IMHO.
