When installing you might get conflicts with already installed KMP packages.
Given you do the test on a non-production machine, I advice you to install the
RPMs with:
$ rpm -Uhv --oldpackage *.rpm
After that, reboot and hit the volume up/down keys. At least with GNOME you
should get a on-screen-display showing the sound volume adjustment.
